CMS has confirmed that the COB&R will accept electronically signed documents that conform to the requirements of the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN Act) 15 U.S.C. §§ 7001-7006 (2000) for obtaining signatures which ensures that consents are properly obtained and documented. CMS noted that the use of electronic signatures was recently reiterated to their contractors as well.
