CMS’ inclusion of Lyrica in certain Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Asides has caused allocations to increase significantly. The Red Book, which is the pricing source for prescription medications utilized by CMS, has included brand name Lyrica at a cost of over $9.00 per pill. As of July 1, 2019, Red Book now includes pricing for a generic form of Lyrica, Pregabalin. Although the price per pill is lower, ranging from $7.00 to $8.42 depending on the dosage, it is still significant. As such, it is still important to determine if there are any potential mitigation options that would eliminate or limit usage of this medication to prevent an overly inflated WCMSA. Our NuQuest team is available to assist with the same and will continue to track these pricing developments for you.
